Nestled at the base of the Sutter Buttes, in the heart of the Sacramento Valley Menagerie Farm & Flower was founded by Felicia Alvarez. The farm specializes growing garden roses, speciality cut flowers, French prunes, assorted stone fruits, nuts and rice on over 100 acres of beautiful California farmland. She is a third generation farmer and entrepreneur who has been farming for over two decades.
Her favorite memories as a child were tending to her grandmother's farm garden filled with fragrant garden roses. Her love of flowers made her an avid gardener and in 2014 an accidental flower farmer.
Felicia’s sustainable farming practices are an all-inclusive approach to creating a healthy small scale farm. Felicia shares her passion for nature, art, science and farming with educational outreach - teaching her love of the land to both beginning & experienced gardeners and farmers from across the country. Helping others learn simple ways to bring food & flowers together in their home is her greatest joy.
Through her specialty farm nursery Felicia hand selects unique bare root rose plants and potted garden roses to share seasonally with garden lovers across the United States. In addition to roses, her collection features exceptional cut flower annuals, bulbs and rare perennial plants.
She studied Crop Science & Agricultural Business at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, has been featured in the Sunset Magazine, Slow Flowers Journal, Style Me Pretty, Team Flower, the First Lady’s Luncheon to name a few and serves on the Board of Directors for Certified American Grown Flowers. Her first book, Growing Wonder: A Flower Farmer’s Guide to Roses was released in March 2022. Felicia makes her home on the farm with her husband Jeff and two young sons, Joseph & Graham. Each day she strives to grow products that will make everyday life more beautiful for your home & table.
